WWE Fastlane 2017: Most Likely Heel and Face Turns at Event

The Doctor Chris MuellerMar 4, 2017

WWE Fastlane is the final Raw pay-per-view before both brands head to the biggest show of the year on April 2, WrestleMania 33.

Sunday's show will feature eight matches. Here is a rundown of the card, according to WWE.com:

  • Kevin Owens vs. Goldberg for the Universal Championship
  • Bayley vs. Charlotte for the Women's Championship
  • Neville vs. Jack Gallagher for the Cruiserweight Championship
  • The Club vs. Enzo and Cass for the Tag Team Championships
  • Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax
  • Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman
  • Sami Zayn vs. Samoa Joe
  • Rich Swann and Akira Tozawa vs. The Brian Kendrick and Noam Dar

This year's event has the potential for a few heel and babyface turns, especially when it comes to a couple of the championship matches.

This slideshow will look at a few of the most likely people to make a transition with their character at Fastlane.

Sasha Banks

1 of 3

The WWE has been making sure we all know Banks and Bayley are best friends recently, which just feels like a setup for a heel turn.

The Boss was one of the best heels in NXT during her time in the developmental system, and it would be easy for her to transition back into her villainous character.

If she were to turn on Bayley and cost her the title against Charlotte at Fastlane, fans would turn on her immediately, and it would set up a potential program between all three women for WrestleMania.

At this point, it's more a matter of when than if Banks will turn heel. Fastlane seems like the best time to do it, especially if the WWE wants Charlotte to win back the title and maintain her PPV winning streak.

Dana Brooke

2 of 3

While Banks costing Bayley the title is the more likely scenario, we could also see Dana Brooke get involved, and it's possible she could do it on Bayley's behalf.

The WWE has planted the seeds for Brooke to turn on Charlotte for months. An injury kept her off television for several weeks, but now that she's back, the WWE can continue her storyline.

Charlotte has treated Brooke horribly on multiple occasions, so nobody would be surprised to see her give Bayley the assist as a way of sticking it to her former ally.

Brooke has tons of potential, but she will never move forward if she continues to serve as Charlotte's lackey. Fastlane could help set up a showdown between the mentor and protege at WrestleMania while Banks and Bayley fight for the title.

Chris Jericho

3 of 3

Just because Owens attacked Jericho during the Festival of Friendship doesn't mean Y2J has become a babyface. He needs to do something to officially make the turn.

Interfering in his former best friend's match at Fastlane is the best way for him to get back at Owens, because it would lead to him losing the universal title to Goldberg.

The only place worthy of hosting the big showdown between Jericho and Owens is WrestleMania. They deserve a spot on the card after all the good work they did in 2016 as a team.

At this point, many are expecting Jericho to show up during the match on Sunday, so the WWE might try to find a different way to bring him back into the fold.

However, if the WWE wants Goldberg to head into WrestleMania as the champion, Jericho showing up at Fastlane to lend him a hand is the only logical option.
