Rich Swann, Akira Tozawa vs. Brian Kendrick, Noam Dar: WWE Fastlane Winner, More

Mike ChiariMar 5, 2017

Rich Swann and Akira Tozawa continued their run of success in WWE's cruiserweight division Sunday at Fastlane, as they defeated Brian Kendrick and Noam Dar on the Kickoff Show.

Swann delivered the Phoenix Splash to Dar to pick up the victory following a back-and-forth match. WWE shared a replay of Swann and Tozawa's celebration in the ring:

WrestlingInc.com thought the match served its purpose as part of the Fastlane pre-show:

Swann became the third holder of the reincarnated Cruiserweight Championship when he defeated Kendrick for the title, but since dropping it to Neville, he has been trying to work his way back into contention.

Tozawa has also climbed the ladder quickly since making his 205 Live debut several weeks ago.

The Japanese Superstar is currently embroiled in a feud with Kendrick, who was of the mindset that he was Tozawa's mentor.

Rather than accept Kendrick's offer, however, Tozawa made it clear that he prefers to carve out his own path, according to 205 Live:

That response wasn't appreciated by The Man With a Plan:

In recent weeks, Kendrick has gone to great lengths to teach Tozawa a lesson and make him regret his desire to be a lone wolf.

That included Kendrick attacking Tozawa from behind on Raw and locking him in the Captain's Hook rather than having their scheduled match.

They also battled it out on 205 Live, and Kendrick was victorious when he smartly got Tozawa's leg stuck in the structure of the ring to prevail by count-out.

Dar's primary focus during his time on WWE programming has been his relationship with Alicia Fox.

The Scottish Supernova had a lengthy rivalry with Fox's former on-screen boyfriend, Cedric Alexander, which resulted in Fox joining forces with Dar.

That hasn't led to a great deal of in-ring success for the 23-year-old, but Sunday represented a golden opportunity to improve his positioning within the division.

The team of Swann and Tozawa was more proficient at finding synergy in a short amount of time, though, which resulted in their coming out on top.

With WrestleMania less than one month away, both Swann and Tozawa may have put themselves in position to vie for the Cruiserweight title on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
