Neville vs. Jack Gallagher: Winner and Reaction for WWE Fastlane 2017

Mike ChiariMar 5, 2017

Neville continued his dominance over the cruiserweight division Sunday at WWE Fastlane, as he defeated Jack Gallagher to retain the Cruiserweight Championship.

Gallagher looked to be in the driver's seat after hitting a huge headbutt on Neville, leaving the champion stunned on the top rope.

Neville recovered, however, and suplexed Gallagher off the rope, sending Gentleman Jack onto his head. That allowed Neville to hit the Red Arrow and pick up the victory, per WWE:

Bleacher Report's Dave Schilling and CBSSports.com's Brian Campbell both praised the wrestlers' work inside the ring:

Mustafa Ali also shouted out his fellow cruiserweights:

The Man That Gravity Forgot has been on the warpath since joining the cruiserweight division, attacking Rich Swann and TJ Perkins at Roadblock: End of the Line.

Neville quickly earned a title shot and defeated Swann for the strap at the Royal Rumble to become the self-proclaimed King of the Cruiserweights.

With Swann working through an injury, the door became open for another cruiserweight to emerge as the No. 1 contender at Fastlane.

That was determined through a Fatal 5-Way elimination match between Gallagher, Perkins, Cedric Alexander, Noam Dar and Ali on 205 Live.

The Extraordinary Gentleman emerged victorious, which set the stage for a clash between arguably the two top cruiserweights on Raw.

Since his change in attitude, Neville has made a habit of attacking fellow Superstars and being overly aggressive.

That was the case on 205 Live a few weeks ago when he refused to release TJP from a submission, which prompted Gallagher to step in.

Gentleman Jack sent Neville scurrying and stood tall after some brutal strikes, as seen in this tweet courtesy of 205 Live:

Gallagher has been a beloved face in WWE since his debut as part of the Cruiserweight Classic, and he played that role to perfection leading up to Fastlane.

Neville had the WWE Universe behind him for essentially his entire tenure in NXT and on the main roster, which created some doubt about whether he would be able to develop into a believable heel.

The Brit has made huge strides on the mic and adapted his offense, however, which has left little doubt that he is capable of thriving in a heel role for a long time to come.

Neville stood out in that regard once again at Fastlane, and after handing Gallagher his first singles loss on the main roster, it is beginning to seem as though he may be unbeatable.
