Michigan Fans -- As Pathetic As They Come...

Justin CarterOct 9, 2009

Rumor has it Michigan will be wearing their throwback all white uniforms this weekend as they take on the 12th ranked Iowa Hawkeyes. I've been reading over the forums and see that this doesn't sit well with many, many fans...but for all the wrong reasons. In typical Michigan fan tradition, they are complaining and whining about Rich Rodriquez not sticking with the "traditions" of UM football. "How can he change the best uniform in college football?" one fan asks...nevermind the fact that this uniform has been around for decades and even the storied coach Bo Schembechler had his team wear them in the 1975 National Championship game vs Oklahoma.  Yes...tradition.  Something so many of you know so little about.

This column is all based on rumor, so there may be no point in writing about it...but then again, some things just need to be said.

Michigan fans, I have never seen a group of cliff jumping, whiny, sissy, entitled, crybabies in my entire life. Don't believe me? Take a look at a few of the forums after a loss -- or even during a close game -- and watch person after person throw a tantrum and have a meltdown like the end of the world is coming. At least wait until 2012!!! From the fans at the games that yell "Down in front!" to the fans that complain about piped in music, new uniforms, football stickers on the helmet, Adidas, our coaches or really any other remotely questionable topic pertaining to our team -- Grow Up. Why do you think UM became old and stale, much like the coaching of a one Mr. Lllllloyd Carr?  Yes, each "L" does really represent a loss to tOSU. Run left, run left, pass, punt was pretty much known to be Michigan offense over the last 4-5 years of Carr's career.  He was stale and had no imagination -- with the exception of the Capital One Bowl vs Florida which was an amazing performance -- so why is it so many of you feel it is necessary to be so plain? Why is it necessary to want to promote a lame atmosphere where the fans sit on their hands, unable to motivate the team they just paid $55 or more to see? Ahh...because we're Meeeeeechigan.  We're above cheering and change. We don't need it...we're also happy with 9-5 seasons with an annual loss to Ohio State and a thrashing in a bowl game.

The change we have seen since the arrival of Rich Rodriguez is a good thing. It creates excitement, which improves recruiting. Ahh, recruiting...many, many people are complaining about this as well.  The 2010 class is a bust seems to be the common thought, nevermind the fact that the recruiting season doesn't finish until February and the staff in place focuses on Florida and other southern states after the season. How has Rodriguez closed the last two years?  Ok then...have some patience.

You all wonder why other fan bases constantly make fun of us. They call us entitled, stuck up, disrespectful, etc. Honestly, I think they're right...
