Defensive tackle D'Andre Litaker has committed to the Tennessee Volunteers, giving the squad some added size in the trenches in the 2018 class.

Litaker announced his decision Tuesday on Twitter:

Litaker missed the majority of his junior season due to a torn ACL suffered in the first game of the year.

"He's an extremely good player, and we were looking forward to having him in the lineup," his coach Will Kriesky said at the time, per Cecil Joyce of the Daily News Journal. "He's a good kid. It's unfortunate for him."

When healthy, however, the Tennessee native is a difference-maker on the defensive line.

According to Scout.com, Litaker is a 4-star recruit considered the No. 16 defensive tackle in the 2018 class and No. 188 overall.

At 6'3", 284 pounds, he has a good frame that could allow him to match up against others at the college level. If he continues to add strength, he could be even more dangerous down the line, especially against the run.

In the meantime, Litaker will utilize his speed and athleticism to penetrate into the backfield and blow up opposing plays.

This will especially be helpful for a Tennessee squad that struggled with consistency on the defensive side of the ball. You need big men who can battle up front in order to win in the SEC and this is someone who can be an enormous help.

While it remains to be seen how quickly the local player will get on the field, Litaker has enough talent to compete with those already on the roster for playing time. In any case, he should make an impact for Butch Jones' team sooner than later.
