Jordan Cameron Retires at Age 28 Due to Concussions
Tight end Jordan Cameron revealed he has decided to retire at the age of 28. Pat McManamon of ESPN reported the news Friday.
"I started thinking about concussions too much," Cameron told McManamon on Friday from his home in California. "You can't play football like that."
He suffered a concussion in a Week 3 win over the Cleveland Browns, his fourth in as many seasons. Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reported Cameron was considering retirement at the time due to potential long-term complications of his head injuries.

"If I didn't get concussions, I'd probably keep playing," Cameron said, per McManamon. "It's one of those things. I can't risk my mental health in the future. I don't have any symptoms now. I'm perfectly fine. But they can't tell me with 100 percent certainty that if I keep playing and I get more concussions, that I'm going to be OK.
"I'm not risking that at all. There's nothing more important than your health. It's just not worth it to me."
Signed to a two-year, $15 million contract before the 2015 season, Cameron compiled just 43 receptions and 446 yards for the Dolphins. He spent all of 2015 struggling in a system that did not accentuate his pass-catching ability, ultimately forcing him to take a pay cut to return last season.
Injuries forced Cameron to miss games in five of his six NFL seasons.
