Jack Tuttle to Utah: Utes Land 4-Star QB Prospect

Following another successful season on the gridiron, Utah's football team figures to get better starting in 2018 with the addition of prized quarterback recruit Jack Tuttle.

Tuttle announced his commitment to the University of Utah Friday on Twitter:

Tuttle is already regarded as one of the best quarterback recruits in the 2018 class. He's a 4-star prospect rated as the No. 4 quarterback in his home state of California, No. 15 quarterback overall and No. 166 player overall, per Scout.

In February, following an appearance with the B2G seven-on-seven squad, Greg Biggins of Scout noted Tuttle was a "smooth pocket passer who shows nice command and a lot of poise."

There's still room for Tuttle to develop, both as a quarterback and as his body continues to mature. He's listed at 195 pounds, but his long 6'4" frame suggests there is plenty of room for him to add muscle without hurting the things that make him unique as a quarterback. 

Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham has done a fantastic job of keeping the program competitive even after moving to the Pac-12 in 2011. The Utes climbed as high as No. 3 in the Associated Press Top 25 during the 2015 season and finished third in the Pac-12 South this season behind Colorado and USC.

In order for the Utes to take the next step in their growth as a Power Five program, they need to start reeling in more elite recruits. Tuttle gives them a quarterback with true superstar potential the second he steps on campus in 2018. 

Tuttle also stands to benefit because there is going to be a huge spotlight on him, especially if Utah reaches new heights, like playing in the Pac-12 title game and fighting for berths in the Rose Bowl, when he's under center.
