Cancer and Sports Part 11 of Many (Phillies Rock)
Dick Allen - aw shucks, Richie Allen ♥ with Davey Lopes - what a cool dude. Great lead into today and Jeff! Jeff was cool too - no fever! Seems that a playoff game can get the recovery juices flowing and it did. The game was on at the café and I left during the 0 - 0 second inning to watch with Jeff at the hospital. Milkshake in hand during the 4th inning I made an entrance and promptly became a distraction from the business at hand...watching the Phillies win. (Thanks to Cliff Lee for that hit - got Jeff almost zinging off the bed but he was tethered by a few IV lines!)
We do not know what the next step is because the chemo really did some nasty stuff to Jeff's kidneys. For the next three weeks he will be up and down but if he behaves tonight looks like we will be watching the Phillies together. It was great to see Jeff coming back to himself and telling me to be quiet while the game was on TV. I kept talking he kept shushing. It was a funny site. One would think Jeff was either up at bat or on the mound the way he was concentrating, and as soon as the game was over, he fell back on his pillow exhausted from his efforts. Old Casey was tired after being at bat LOL!

What I learned is - if for any reason Jeff is not watching either the Phillies, Eagles, Penn State or Flyers...get him to an ER, do not wait for one more inning, quarter, period or til half time. Part of writing this blog is to help make readers aware that time is of the essence in any emergency. A sports nut not watching game very well could be a disaster waiting to happen (or happening). Jeff was "rimming the ring" as they say. Thankfully he is out of the woods but still facing the big Cancer forest ahead.
Today was a good day, for the business, for the Phillies and for Jeff (whom I love slightly more than Richie -not Dick - Allen). The good guys won today ♥
