Tottenham Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Ross Barkley and Eric Dier
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing a transfer bid for Everton star Ross Barkley, while Bayern Munich and Chelsea are keeping an eye on England international Eric Dier.
According to Tom Collomosse of the London Evening Standard, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to boost his creativity in midfield in order to get the most out of star striker Harry Kane, and Barkley sits near the top of his list of possible reinforcements.
The 23-year-old would reportedly cost at least £35 million, and a January move is expected to be tricky. Barkley hasn't really impressed Toffees manager Ronald Koeman yet this season, however, which could aid Spurs' bid.

Tottenham already have a host of players who can line up behind the main striker and add creativity, with Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen, Heung-min Son and Erik Lamela all impressing at certain stages of the season and Moussa Sissoko and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou joining the club during the summer.
Barkley would add more athleticism to the group, as well as the ability to run at defences. The Everton man has long been regarded as one of England's top talents in midfield, and while his development has somewhat stalled in the last few seasons, he remains a highly effective player.
He put together a starring display in the 2-1 win over Arsenal, part of what has been a solid campaign in terms of chance creation, per Squawka Football:
Barkley hasn't been an automatic starter under Koeman, however, and the former Southampton boss could opt to cash in and use the large fee it will take to land the England international to strengthen his squad elsewhere.
A £35 million investment in Barkley, who has struggled for consistency at times and is yet to have his true breakout season, would be risky, but Pochettino has a great track record with unlocking players' true potential.
Barkley came up through Everton's academy and is very popular among the fans―he might not be too keen on leaving his boyhood club and join a team that already has plenty of options at his position. But if Koeman continues to rotate him in and out of the squad, a transfer will become more likely.
Elsewhere, the Times (h/t the Sun's Matt Heath-Smith) reports Dier is unhappy at his lack of involvement at White Hart Lane, with Bayern and Chelsea hoping to take advantage of the situation.
Summer signing Victor Wanyama has taken Dier's spot in midfield, and while the England international logged minutes at centre-back as Toby Alderweireld's replacement in recent weeks, the Belgian's return means he'll likely return to the bench.

Per the report, England manager Gareth Southgate believes Dier should stick in midfield, and a lack of playing time in the Premier League would threaten his spot in the team.
Pochettino has preferred to partner Mousa Dembele with Wanyama so far this season, and promising youngster Harry Winks has also seen plenty of minutes. The 20-year-old will likely be featured more as the season goes on, further complicating matters for Dier.
Per Squawka Football, Winks' showings in Europe certainly merit a bigger role:
It's hard to see how Dier would break into Bayern's star-studded midfield, but per the report, the Bavarians were very interested in his services during the summer, and the interest remains. His versatility is a tremendous asset, and his ability to slide into defence is likely what appeals to Chelsea.
