Real Madrid Transfer News: Cristiano Ronaldo, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Rumours

Christopher SimpsonDec 14, 2016

Chinese news agency Xinhua anticipates a Ballon d'Or winner will move to the Chinese Super League in the next 10 years and reported Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo and Barcelona counterpart Lionel Messi are "bound to be tempted" by the riches on offer there.

Per Goal, the state-owned press agency wrote: "The CSL is becoming the richest buyer in world football." Xinhua added:

"

Given the huge pay cheques on offer, [Messi] and [Ronaldo] are bound to be tempted to play in China when they are heading into the autumn of their careers.

...

If CSL's financial might takes hold, it is believed that a Ballon d'Or winner will come here within a decade.

A number of players have made the switch from European football to China in recent years due to the unprecedented levels of wealth offered by the nation's top-flight teams.

Ronaldo recently put pen to paper on a new five-year contract at Real that will keep him at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2021, but the 31-year-old plans to play on for another decade, per ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan.

The forward, who has notched 12 goals and six assists this season, won his fourth Ballon d'Or on Monday—his third golden ball in the last four years.

As Bleacher Report UK's Tim Collins noted, Ronaldo has been a dominant force in world football for quite some time:

This season, his efforts helped Los Blancos win their 11th UEFA Champions League title and Portugal their first international trophy at UEFA Euro 2016. La Liga writer Andrew Gaffney hailed his contributions to both wins:

Ronaldo will be 36 when his contract expires, so it's possible he could be open to a move to China depending on whether he's willing to accept a reduced role at Real as he gets older and his desire to finish his career in Madrid.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has expressed interest in joining Los Blancos should they ever attempt to sign him.

Speaking to beIN Sports (h/t Goal's Iain Strachan), he said:

"

Real has a close connection with my family

The media is doing too much [speculation]. It's a childhood dream. But, as I always said, I play at Dortmund and I'm glad to be there and it's really good for me.

And I don't even know if Madrid really wants me. If Real comes one day, then that's good.

"

The 27-year-old has been in sensational form again this season, bagging 19 goals and four assists in 20 appearances.

Bleacher Report UK's Lars Pollmann added context to his goalscoring exploits in the Bundesliga:

DW Sports' Stefan Bienkowski believes there is still room for improvement, however:

Nevertheless, the striker would be a phenomenal capture for any side—he possesses incredible pace and almost unrivalled predatory instincts in the final third, allowing him to become one of the most prolific forwards in European football.

After re-signing Alvaro Morata in the summer, Real don't need another forward, but if Karim Benzema were to depart, it's possible they'd make a move for one.

In Aubameyang, they'd have a world-class talent eager to join the cause.
