Los Angeles Rams vs. Seattle Seahawks Betting Odds, Analysis, NFL Pick

OddsShark.comDec 13, 2016

The Los Angeles Rams will be looking to win one for John Fassel in his debut as the team's interim head coach when they visit the Seattle Seahawks in Week 15.

The 4-9 Rams made a coaching change following last week's 42-14 loss to the Atlanta Falcons as five-point road underdogs, which extended their straight-up losing streak to four games.

The 8-4-1 Seahawks look to rebound from a 38-10 loss in Green Bay as three-point chalk that dropped them to 1-2 SU and against the spread in their past three games. However, Seattle has a 2.5-game lead in the NFC West standings and can clinch the division crown with a victory.

Point spread: The Seahawks opened as 13-point favorites; the total was 40.5 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark (line updates and matchup report).

Why the Rams can cover the spread

The Rams racked up surprisingly strong defensive numbers last week, holding the Falcons' vaunted attack to just 286 total yards, including just 66 rushing yards. That marks the third time in Los Angeles' past five games that it has held an opponent to fewer than 300 total yards.

Containing Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will be critical to the Rams' success. Wilson has tossed seven total touchdown passes over Seattle's past four wins but has found the end zone just once in the team's two recent losses. Wilson has also thrown a whopping eight interceptions over his last three games.

The Seattle offense has struggled with consistency this season, scoring 12 or fewer points on five occasions.

Why the Seahawks can cover the spread

The Seahawks are a perfect 6-0 SU at home this season, covering in their past two at CenturyLink Field while surrendering just 11 points per game.

That is bad news for the Rams, who have scored just 12 points per game over their past seven outings. Los Angeles has also covered just once in its past nine games, paying out as 1.5-point chalk in a narrow 9-6 win over the New York Jets five weeks ago.

Seattle has not disappointed when pegged as heavy home chalk, winning five straight while favored by 15 or more points. The Seahawks covered in four of those contests while winning by an average margin of 22.6 points.

Smart pick

The Rams have won three straight games against the Seahawks, both SU and ATS, including last season's 23-17 win in Seattle as 11.5-point underdogs.

However, the Seahawks are unbeaten SU and ATS in their past six games after losing as a favorite and are 5-1-1 ATS on the NFL lines in their past seven games following a loss.

Look for the Seahawks to bounce back and romp to a division title with a SU and ATS win.

Betting trends

The Rams are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games against the Seahawks.

The total has gone under in seven of the Rams' last nine games against the Seahawks.

The Seahawks are 7-0 SU and 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven games after a loss.
