Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Memphis Depay, Ashley Young
Everton could reportedly bid for Manchester United winger Memphis Depay during the January transfer window as the Merseyside club seeks a replacement for injured star Yannick Bolasie.
Toffees manager Ronald Koeman is said to be a big fan of Netherlands international Depay. He may now accelerate his interest with Bolasie possibly out for the rest of the season, according to Ian Whittell of the Times: "Ronald Koeman has conceded that Everton will seek a replacement for Yannick Bolasie after his long-term injury, with a move for Manchester United’s Memphis Depay looking likely in the transfer window."
Bolasie ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament during Everton's recent 1-1 draw with United, per the Daily Mirror's David Maddock.

The injury has prompted Koeman to indicate he could make a signing to help compensate this winter, according to another report from Maddock: "We are still looking for some good options and maybe it is more necessary now than it was before because we have lost Yannick for a long time."

If Koeman does make a signing, Whittell believes it is likely to be Depay: "That could intensify Koeman's interest in the Dutch winger, who has struggled to make any impact under Jose Mourinho and seems destined to leave Old Trafford next month."
Depay has had a tough time making the grade since being recruited by former national team boss Louis van Gaal last summer.
The ex-PSV Eindhoven star cost the Red Devils around £31 million, but all Van Gaal got for his money was five goals and zero assists in Premier League and European action, per WhoScored.com.
The same source noted how Depay has no goals and assists this season across all contests, although he's made just one start and seven appearances off the bench.
United chief Jose Mourinho hasn't looked Depay's way often. In fact, Mourinho has been content to rely on young trio Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford in wide areas. He's even deployed central playmaker Juan Mata on the flanks on occasion.

Depay's future at Old Trafford does look bleak, but he's not the only outcast winger tipped to leave the club during the winter transfer window.
Premier League Suitors Circling Ashley Young
Ashley Young is one wide player who could follow Depay through the exit door. The one-time Watford and Aston Villa man is reportedly interesting several clubs from England's top flight, according to Robert Cottingham of the Manchester Evening News.

Cottingham named the Hornets as one of the keen parties, as well as Everton, Swansea City and West Bromwich Albion. He also noted how Mourinho might use frozen-out players to help generate funds to sign a new defender in January:
"United have been linked with a move for Benfica full back Victor Lindelof, as Mourinho is understood to be keen on bringing in defensive reinforcements this January transfer window.
And Young could be among the fall guys, having failed to secure a starting birth under the new manager, although it is understood that Mourinho does not want him to leave.
"
Young may be valued by Mourinho, but he's still struggled to get on the pitch this season. The player, who can operate on either wing, has made just four starts in all competitions, per WhoScored.com.
When he has played, Young has often been used as a makeshift full-back, usually on the left. Mourinho seems to have had little need for Young's pace, trickery and crossing ability in advanced areas.
Like Depay, the 31-year-old has been pushed aside for precocious options such as Martial and Rashford. Those players can be United's future. They at least have greater potential to influence the Manchester club's chances for success this season.
Mourinho would be smart to turn the pair into some quick cash in January before using the funds to bolster his options at the back.
