Conor McGregor Challenging NSAC Fine Stemming from UFC 202 Press Conference

The Nevada State Athletic Commission fined Conor McGregor $150,000 for his conduct at a pre-fight press conference in advance of UFC 202, but the UFC lightweight champion is reportedly challenging the punishment in court.

Citing Clark County, Nevada, court filings Wednesday, MMAjunkie's Steven Marrocco reported McGregor has submitted a petition for a judicial review of the NSAC's sanctions. (Warning: Video contains NSFW language.)

Beyond the $150,000 penalty, McGregor was also ordered to serve 50 hours of community service, "10 percent of which was to go toward his participation in an NSAC-branded public-service announcement on anti-bullying," according to Marrocco.

"I just want to apologize for the incident; it was a very unusual incident that unfolded," McGregor said in October, according to Fox Sports' Damon Martin. "I acted wrong, and all I can say is I'm sorry."

Diaz appeared to instigate the altercation when he hurled a water bottle in McGregor's direction on his way out of the room, and the Irishman responded by throwing several bottles back.

Following the incident, Diaz explained why he interrupted McGregor's press conference during a spot on UFC Tonight (via BJPenn.com).

"Like I said, that guy [McGregor] walks in like he was the show," Diaz said. "But I thought the show was over, so I left the show."

McGregor proceeded to defeat Diaz via majority decision in a five-round thriller to avenge his March loss to the 31-year-old.
