Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks' Best Booking Options for WWE Roadblock 2016

Donald WoodDec 5, 2016

When Charlotte squares off against Sasha Banks for the Raw Women’s Championship at the 2016 edition of WWE Roadblock, the bout will be contested under the 30-minute Iron Man match stipulation.

After watching Charlotte dominate on the microphone Monday night during Raw before slapping her father Ric Flair, there is now a chance that the 16-time world champion could get involved in the Roadblock matchup.

Here are the best booking options for Charlotte vs. Sasha Banks at Roadblock.

Charlotte Uses Ric to Regain Championship

Despite the horrible things Charlotte has said and done to her father, Ric still looks committed to forgiving his daughter and is brought to tears by her actions. Whether it’s on purpose or by accident, Ric costing Sasha the championship would be the perfect swerve.

On one hand, Flair standing in the corner of Sasha Banks in support of Charlotte’s challenger would make for an interesting wrinkle in the Roadblock match. Ultimately, it should lead to Ric accidentally distracting Banks and costing her the victory.

On the other hand, the Flairs are considered the dirtiest players in the game, and a huge ruse to lull Banks into believing Ric and Charlotte aren’t working together would be devious. Then, when Ric turns on Banks and sides with his daughter, the heel heat for the swerve would be massive.

Either way, Flair’s involvement the last two weeks doesn’t feel like the end of his time in this storyline. One way to make the Iron Man match interesting would be to have a legend like Ric Flair play a role in the outcome.

Sasha Successfully Defends the Title

While it’s hard to believe the champion retaining the championship is the most farfetched idea, the amount of title changes and the sheer number of bouts between Banks and Charlotte make it very possible that the belt changes hands again.

According to ProFightDB.com, Sasha and Charlotte have been involved in some form of match together 67 times in 2016—live shows included—with an astounding 19 of those coming on Raw, SmackDown or pay-per-view.

At some point, WWE Creative has to move on from this feud.

With talented women like Bayley and Nia Jax earning their opportunities to get a shot at the championship, it’s time to build depth in the division. Booking Nia Jax as Banks’ next opponent is logical storytelling, and pitting Charlotte against Bayley is something WWE has teased already.

There is no doubt wrestling fans will witness Charlotte vs. Sasha sporadically as long as they’re both with the company, but saving some of their matches so they feel more special down the road is just common sense.
