Mark ButerbaughOct 7, 2009

powerplug.jpgA bit late this week, but hey, we had busy stuff to do.  Here you go, the Weekly Power Plug, a peak at the Power Polls

Listed Power Polls:  30

So here they are with some comments.

Of course --- listed first is the World's Most Prestigious Power Poll.

DCPSR Power Poll
Date:  10/7/06
Number One Ranked Team: Indianapolis
Number Two Ranked Team:  New York Giants
Redskins Rank:   23rd ( +2 )
Comments:

MVN Outsider
Date:  10/7/09
Number One Ranked Team: New York Giants
Number Two Ranked Team:  New Orleans
Redskins Rank:  24th ( +2 )
Comments:  Could they be the worst 2-2 team in the history of the NFL?

Washington Times
Date:  10/7/09
Number One Ranked Team: New York Giants
Number Two Ranked Team:  New Orleans
Redskins Rank:  26th ( NC )
Comments:  Rallying from a 10-0 halftime deficit to beat the Bucs 16-13 relieved some of the pressure in D.C. on coach Jim Zorn, but quarterback Jason Campbell has five interceptions after throwing six all last year. Winning at Carolina Sunday would keep hope alive. The hiring of consultant Sherm Lewis is another bad sign for Zorn.

Real GM
Date:  10/6/09
Number One Ranked Team: New Orleans
Number Two Ranked Team:  Denver
Redskins Rank:  17th (  )
Comments:  Clinton Portis was two yards shy from 100, but it had to come on a workmanlike 25 touches.

Touchdown Dance
Date:  10/6/09
Number One Ranked Team: Minnesota
Number Two Ranked Team:  New Orleans
Redskins Rank:  25th ( +1 )
Comments:  They have the ugliest .500 record in the league, but fortunately for coach Jim Zorn they all look the same in the record books. This team needs an offensive make over, but the defense is semi-respectable. They gave their fans in DC a heart attack, but did come out a winner vs the Buccaneers 16-13.

Chicago Sports Day
Date:  10/6/09
Number One Ranked Team: New Orleans
Number Two Ranked Team:  New York Giants
Redskins Rank:  21st ( +4 )
Comments:  With Redskin-of-the-teeth wins over awful St. Louis and Tampa Bay, and a loss in Detroit, Washington is about as unimpressive a 2-2 as a team can be. The defense has been okay, but the Skins are still waiting on Jason Campbell.

Red Zone Report
Date:  10/6/09
Number One Ranked Team: New York
Number Two Ranked Team:  New Orleans
Redskins Rank:  23rd (  )
Comments:  Make that two wins the Redskins have stumbled upon and didn't quite deserve. Clinton Portis was the only player on offense making any sense for the first three quarters. If only Jason Campbell could play all game like he plays in the fourth quarter.

The Faster Times
Date:  10/6/09
Number One Ranked Team: New York Giants
Number Two Ranked Team: New Orleans
Redskins Rank:  23rd ( +2 )
Comments:  If I were a Redskins fan, I'd kidnap Jim Zorn, dress him up like a whorish hogette, and duck tape him to the Washington Monument.-Joe

Pro Football Talk
Date:  10/6/09
Number One Ranked Team: New York Giants
Number Two Ranked Team:  Indianapolis
Redskins Rank:  21st ( +2 )
Comments:  Barely beating teams that won't win many games this year isn't the way to keep Jim Zorn employed.  Through November.

No Guts, No Glory
Date:  10/6/09
Number One Ranked Team: New York Giants
Number Two Ranked Team:  New Orleans
Redskins Rank:  22nd ( NC )
Comments:  They're 2-2 but they're likely just as bad as some of the win-less teams in the NFL.

Gridiron Gab
Date:  10/6/09
Number One Ranked Team: New Orleans
Number Two Ranked Team:  Indianapolis
Redskins Rank:  27th ( NC )
Comments:  After an embarrassing loss to the Lions last week, I expected the Redskins to come out of the gate strong against a bad Tampa team. I think it's time for the end of the Jason Campbell era if the Redskins want to win games.

LA Sports Day
Date:  10/6/09
Number One Ranked Team: New Orleans
Number Two Ranked Team:  New York
Redskins Rank:  21st ( +5 )

Football News Share
Date:  10/6/09
Number One Ranked Team: New York Giants
Number Two Ranked Team:  Indianapolis
Redskins Rank:  28th ( +3 )
Comments:  Any game involving two teams ranked 26th or lower in these rankings (see Washington vs. Tampa Bay, Week 4) should be blacked out in all markets.

The Scores Report
Date:  10/6/09
Number One Ranked Team: New York Giants
Number Two Ranked Team:  New Orleans
Redskins Rank:  22nd (  )
Comments:  Jason Campbell has the tools to succeed in this league, but he's got to get his team into the end zone when they reach the red zone. Either that, or Jim Zorn needs to get more aggressive in his play calling.

Fox Sports

Date:  10/6/09
Number One Ranked Team: New York Giants
Number Two Ranked Team:  New Orleans Saints
Redskins Rank:   27th  ( NC )
Comments:

WHAT A SURPRISE: The Redskins got a lot of garbage for re-signing turbulent CB DeAngelo Hall for big bucks this offseason. But he has actually been one of the few 'Skins with a pulse, picking off two passes to lead the team.
