Ranking the Top Russell Westbrook Game-Day Outfits
NBA fashion revolves around Russell Westbrook. He's the sun to the NBA's Earth—a man who brings stylistic musings, Jordan Brand collaborations and everything in between to steal media headlines and draw fanatical responses.
As big supporters of everything Westbrook, we wanted to dive deeper into all of his fashionable endeavors, exploring and ranking the top outfits he's worn during the 2016-17 NBA season.
Exhaustive investigative journalism has paved the way for this No. 0 report.
6. Man on the Moon
1 of 6Russell Westbrook's T-shirt game has remained part of his legendary off-the-court fashion empire. So when you see him sporting a man-on-the-moon-themed garment, it's all part of the process.
This particular pregame outfit stood out due to contrasting colors. The result was something eye-catching—a trait you sort of get used to hanging around Westbrook.
It's not overly flashy or dapper, but this casual look worked well for the Oklahoma City Thunder guard and has earned the No. 6 seed on his top game-day outfits.
5. The Triple-Double Look
2 of 6The king of triple-doubles himself brought out a dapper look reminiscent of Walt Frazier. This outfit had us all forgetting about the pleasantries of streetwear, instead focusing in on more of a sophisticated feel.
Westbrook's style is completely off the books and wide-ranging. It doesn't always veer off into "shock and awe" territory. This clean black jacket and 1970s-style hat came together seamlessly to create something worth noticing.
4. Global Games
3 of 6Before the NBA's regular season even got underway, Russell Westbrook was out stunting during the Global Games series—apparently his fashion sense has no boundaries.
Against FC Barcelona Lassa, Westbrook stepped out with tattered jeans, an all-black dad hat and meshed those tangible elements together with a John Lennon T-shirt. The look was classic, as the shirt was tucked in for good measure.
It really showcased Westbrook's sense of relying on items from the past to bring his modern-day style to life. Despite being in Spain—and not during the NBA season—this outfit was too good to pass up on talking about.
3. Fear of God Ensemble
4 of 6One thing we admire about Russell Westbrook's sense of fashion is that he mixes it up on a daily basis. There isn't a distinct pattern or type of look you can pin him down to.
Against the Philadelphia 76ers earlier this season, Westbrook leaned on uber-popular streetwear label Fear of God as the basis for his pregame look. A Fear of God plaid kilt pushed boundaries and blended with a denim jacket overlay.
Combined, these two elements brought out the best in Westbrook's style.
2. Slim Shady and Overalls
5 of 6Before we delve into this outfit, we want all of you to check out Russell Westbrook's sneaker selection. If those babies don't look familiar, let us formally introduce you to the Jordan Brand Westbrook 0.2.
It's a lifestyle sneaker that has become Westbrook's signature effort with Jordan Brand. Rather than using an athletic shoe, the decision was made somewhere along the line to pivot more into fashion.
Automatically this outfit belongs near the top of our list because of the Westbrook 0.2. Russ mixed it in with a Slim Shady tribute shirt—hello, Eminem—and a dapper pair of jean overalls. It's all fun and games with this ensemble, and we were loving every second of it.
1. Official Photographer Life
6 of 6Don't let Russell Westbrook tell you anything different or play coy. The Oklahoma City Thunder guard used his now infamous photographer outfit to poke fun at former teammate Kevin Durant.
According to Rickey O'Donnell of SB Nation, Westbrook's outfit used a direct shot to Durant's love for photography—not to mention he wore it against the Golden State Warriors.
This outfit, aside from being an expression of daring fashion, belongs at the No. 1 slot because of the direct shade it tossed at KD.
