Death Of ESpn: They Just Keep Getting Worse

Dominic OatesOct 7, 2009

Since I was a little kid I had watched ESPN and Sportscenter, it was like the cool thing to do because if you didn't watch them you weren't a guy. I used to be able to watch ESPN all day, but now the only enjoyable things on the station to watch, while being quality television, are Around the Horn and Pardon the Interruption. I mean come on Jim Rome, Outside the Lines, the 30 repeats of Sportscenter everyday! Not only is it unnecessary it's down right annoying. The only thing I can stand to watch is ESPN First Take even though Skip Bayless doesn't even care to hold back his bias it is still good insight on what is happening and it is cool to see guys debating rather than just showing clips of the games we have already seen. Here is a tip for ESPN of what to do to burn time during the day show a repeat of the Monday Night football game on maybe Tuesday or Wednesday, get a quality show or series like the show Playmakers one television, because everyone I knew loved that show and it was actually really good!

I am not saying that ESPN is terrible but now it isn't the thing I turn to when it comes to sports I will wait until I can get to a computer and log onto CBS Sports or SI.com before I got to ESPN. Heck, I don't even use ESPN for my fantasy league! To say I'm fed up with ESPN is an understatement I genuinely cannot take it anymore. While sports are cool I don't need to hear 4 straight shows talk about the same thing the last one did like the story will change from show to show. As for the College Football game you put on television who the heck wants to see Purdue and Iowa State duke it out? Why would you put that on there put on quality games! Not even the President of Iowa State wants to watch them on television. And don't waste your time even showing College Football Live anymore that is the worst coverage of national college football now if I was a Florida Gator fan and I wanted to hear you talking about Tim Tebow for a half hour that would be very productive, BUT this is College Football Live not Gator Football Live.

For all those NFL fans out there we can thank the NFL for saving us from some more terrible daily reports of NFL Live. We now can spend our days watching NFL Total Access on NFL Network a channel that gives us the absolute best information and the most up-to-date reports on what is happening in the NFL. Then again, what if you aren't a football fan where can you go to get quality coverage on MLB or NBA? The answer is nowhere they haven't even hinted at basketball since I can remember, and talking about Michael Jordan or Lebron James doesn't count if you didn't notice it's camp and we still don't even know who plays for who all thanks to the wonderful sports casters at ESPN. And sorry to all the hockey fans out there I know hockey is somewhat cool and legit but that's why you guys get the Versus Channel all the hockey you can get, but if I see another hockey goal in the top 3 on ESPN's top 10 plays that isn't a guy doing a back flip while eating a corn dog and writing down his memoirs I am going to kill myself! It is such a buzz kill, because I'll see D wade throw up a last minute shot to win the game or see Josh Smith actually make a wide open 3 point shot and then the #1 play will be Danny Heatley pass the puck and they act like it is so amazing. Soccer is okay but really guys? Hockey! Let's just actually ask ourselves is this what the people want to see? Then I want you to make an effort to please us because if any billionaire decides to dethrone ESPN by creating his own sports network he could easily do it!
