Biggest Questions Surrounding 2026 NFL Season After the Draft 🤔
Sproles Active vs. Giants
Thursday, Dec. 22
Tim McManus of ESPN.com reported Sproles was not among the Eagles' inactives in Week 16 against the New York Giants.
Sproles Brings Added Dimension to Eagles
Sproles, 33, has been Philadelphia's most consistent offensive producer this season, accumulating 766 yards from scrimmage and three touchdowns.
While he's generally played the scatback and third-down role since joining the Eagles in 2014, Sproles has even served as the feature back at times this year, with both Ryan Mathews and Wendell Smallwood seeing limited playing time at points during the season because of fumbling issues.
Sproles has also continued to be one of the league's most dangerous punt returners.
His loss is a big one for the Eagles, who have gotten inconsistent play from their skill positions all season long. Mathews will continue to carry the bulk of the load if Sproles can't play against the Giants.
But the Eagles will miss his impact in all areas. Zach Ertz, Jordan Matthews and Nelson Agholor have at least some pressure taken off them in the passing game to support rookie standout quarterback Carson Wentz with Sproles' return.
