NFL and NCAA Refs Party Hard When It Comes To Penalties
Okay the LSU-UGA game was a sign of how ridiculous this flag happy world of football has gotten. Now refs I know you guys have an obligation to the NCAA's billions of dumb rules but whatever happened to the good old fashion saying, "Let 'em play!"
I am getting fed up when a DB or WR can barely push off or barely grab a little bit of jersey to help themselves out. Especially for the defensive players, and I'm a tight end, and I know it isn't easy covering a guy let them do a little bump and run down the field because even a big CB like Antonio Cromartie, 6'3, stuggles covering a Randy Moss, 6'5, on a jumpball so let's give them the benefit of the doubt and say okay you can give a little bump on Randy before you are "Moss'd."
Next, let's not make the quarterback softer than Charmins toilet paper okay guys. I hate to see a knee injury like Brady's but that was just a freak accident. As for the helmet to helmet hits, we have to get hit in our heads everyday at practice do you think a game once every week will be so different? HECK NO! If I am Troy Polamalu I was taught seperate that WR, TE, or RB at any cost now I am going to come at you hard and fast but if the receiver so happens to twist and turn is body in a way to where he is covering the ball and by chance dips his head I can't just change my body's positioning in mid air, thanks to a little thing called gravitiy and momentum it makes life hard sometimes.
I'm not saying we cannot keep the game safe but do what I was taught in school first we brainstorm, should I throw this flag, then access the reaction of what would happen if I threw this flag, then next step is to think would this be the right call, and last do I want to end up on PTI or Around the Horn on Monday morning for making a terrible call. In the words of the great comedian Ron White, "Next time you have a thought....just let it go!"
This paper was for AJ Green and the UGA Bulldogs sorry guys.
