Michelle BrutonNov 15, 2016

Week 10 of the 2016 NFL season set a high bar for the remaining weeks to come.

We may have seen the best action the NFL has had to offer so far this season. The Dallas Cowboys took it down to the final seconds to defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers in breathtaking fashion, and the Seattle Seahawks did the unthinkable and upset the hot New England Patriots on Sunday Night Football

Meanwhile, the Tennessee Titans blew out Green Bay, bringing the Packers to total meltdown status.

Safe Bet: Seattle Seahawks (-4.5)

There's no question that the Seahawks had revenge in mind when they traveled to New England Sunday to take on the Patriots for the first time since the two teams met in Super Bowl XLIX.

And this time, Seattle flipped the script on New England.

That matchup was the best example of the kind of team Seattle can be.

Its goal-line defense in the final moments of the game was able to prevent the Patriots, who are converting 65.62 percent of their red-zone attempts this season, per Team Rankings, from scoring on all four downs.

Everything was clicking on offense for Russell Wilson, who threw for 348 yards and three touchdowns and didn't have an interception while connecting with seven different pass-catchers.

The Seahawks are getting hot at the right time, and they'll attempt to carry that momentum into their Week 11 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles.

Seattle will host an Eagles team that is averaging 25.1 points per game.

At 10th in the league, that's nothing to sneeze at, but Seattle is allowing the second-fewest points in the league at 17.6 per game.

The 6-2-1 Seahawks have the opportunity to pull away from the pack in the NFC West with a win this week. And given how they got the win against New England, beating Philadelphia by at least five points seems like a piece of cake.

Big Gamble: Carolina Panthers (-4.5)

The 3-6 Carolina Panthers are in last place in the NFC South and coming off a Week 10 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, 20-17.

Last season, it would have been madness to say that taking the points with Carolina favored by 4.5 against the New Orleans Saints was a bad bet—especially after the Saints lost to the Broncos in Week 10, 25-23.

But this season's Panthers team defies all explanation. The 4-5 Saints are second in the league in scoring, averaging 29.4 points per game, and are first in the league in offense with a whopping 427.7 yards per game.

The Saints defense has been its Achilles' heel, but Drew Brees and his weapons could turn this game into a shootout.

Neither team is feeling particularly great heading into Week 11 coming off meltdown-induced losses. But they'll need to have short memories, as they'll meet Thursday night.

Joseph Person of the Charlotte Observer talked to the Panthers about the kind of Saints team they're expecting to meet. "A loss is a loss," Panthers safety Kurt Coleman said. "They’re going to be regrouping and I’m sure Drew (Brees) is going to be getting his troops ready, especially with the type of game they had the first time against us."

At this point in the year, it's unlikely that either of these teams will compete for a wild-card berth. But whichever team loses this matchup will see its chances decrease to zero percent.
