Buffalo Bills vs. Seattle Seahawks Betting Odds, Analysis, NFL Pick

OddsShark.comNov 3, 2016

The Buffalo Bills might be the streakiest team in the NFL. They started the season with two losses and then won four consecutive contests both straight up and against the spread. But now they've lost two more in a row. They'll have their hands full avoiding a third straight defeat when they trek across the country to take on the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night.

Point spread: The Seahawks opened as seven-point favorites; the total was 44 early in the week, according to sportsbooks monitored by Odds Shark (line updates and matchup report).

Why the Bills can cover the spread

The Bills thought they had something cooking a few weeks ago, with four straight wins and covers, but they have now lost two straight, including a 41-25 decision against the New England Patriots last week. Buffalo drove the opening kickoff to a field goal and only trailed 14-10 late in the second quarter, but it faded from there.

On the day, the Bills outrushed the Patriots 167-72, but they had no answer for Tom Brady. Then again, few do.

Buffalo is already 3-0 both SU and ATS against the NFC West this season and 1-0 SU and ATS on the West Coast. Back in Week 3, it dominated the Arizona Cardinals in a 33-18 victory at home, and two weeks later, it flew out to Los Angeles and beat the Rams 30-19.

Why the Seahawks can cover the spread

Seattle returns home following an 0-1-1 road trip, but it is still in possession of first place in the NFC West. Two weeks ago, the Seahawks played that strange tie game at Arizona, and last week, they fell to the New Orleans Saints 25-20. Seattle grabbed an early 14-3 lead on the Saints and led 17-16 through three quarters. But down by five late, the Seahawks only produced three points on two deep incursions into the New Orleans red zone and came up six points short of victory.

The Saints outgained Seattle, but only by a 375-359 margin, as the Seahawks' defense held the New Orleans offense to 46 yards and five points under its current average.

Smart pick

Buffalo is dangerously one-dimensional on offense, and running back LeSean McCoy is still nursing a sore hamstring. If Seattle piles up against that running game and makes the Bills move the ball through the air, they'll be in trouble. The Seahawks aren't quite the team they were a couple of seasons ago, but a raucous home crowd should help. The smart money here sides with Seattle.

Betting trends

The Bills are 4-1 ATS in their last five games against the Seahawks.

The total has gone over in the Bills' last eight games against the Seahawks.

The total has gone under in eight of the Bills' last 10 games as road underdogs.
