Kris Bryant Ends Cubs' 108-Year Title Drought with Final Out of Game 7

Kyle NewportNov 3, 2016

With the weight of Chicago on his shoulders, Cubs star Kris Bryant proved why he deserves to be the 2016 National League MVP.

Nothing rattles him.

The Cubs held a one-run lead over the Cleveland Indians in the bottom of the 10th inning of Game 7 with the game-tying run on base. When a slow grounder was hit toward third base for the potential championship-clinching out, Bryant stayed calm and collected—and he even had a smile on his face when he went to field the ball.

Perhaps some in Chicago felt a play like that would make the 108-year curse kick in. Not this time. Not with this squad.

Bryant fired the ball to first base for the out, setting off a celebration of a lifetime at Progressive Field and in Chicago.
