Wrigleyville Bars Charging Hundreds of Dollars for Fans to Watch Game 3

Thomas DuffyOct 28, 2016

Bars and restaurants near Wrigley Field are cashing in on the World Series.

The Chicago Cubs host the Cleveland Indians for Game 3 on Friday night. ESPN's Darren Rovell tweeted out a picture of one bar called "Sluggers" that's charging $100 at the door and only allowing 400 fans inside, starting at 10 a.m. CT.

This isn't uncommon, according to Louisa Chu and Adam Lukach of the Chicago Tribune. A reserved table and food will run you $1,250 at HVAC Pub. At a handful of others, reserving a spot is $500.

The Cubs are home for Games 3, 4 and 5, so these businesses are trying to squeeze every last drop out of the World Series while they can.

It seems to be working:

You can't blame the establishments, though—it's been 71 years since the Cubs played for a title.
