Alex Rodriguez Appears to Dislike Pete Rose Saying Derek Jeter Inspired Him

Zac WassinkOct 20, 2016

Former New York Yankees designated hitter and third baseman Alex Rodriguez didn't enjoy Pete Rose's assumption that Derek Jeter inspired his erstwhile teammate.

Rodriguez and Rose were part of the four-man studio crew breaking down Game 5 of the National League Championship Series involving the Chicago Cubs and Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday when Rose mentioned that a player heating up could serve as motivation for a teammate.

"There was a guy who wore No. 2 who used to inspire a guy named Alex Rodriguez. I think his name was Derek Jeter," Rose said. Rodriguez smiled before declaring he "loved it" in what sounded like a sarcastic tone.
