Heyman Handles the Heavy Lifting
While the matchup between Lesnar and Goldberg is happening, where the battle will take place has yet to be announced. With Survivor Series the closest realistic possibility, WWE officials will have to slow-play the storyline as much as possible.
The easiest way to stretch out the angle would be to have Lesnar appear on Raw with Paul Heyman speaking on behalf of his client. With Lesnar there to show his anger and Heyman there to destroy Goldberg verbally, it would be the next logical step in the storyline.
Following Hell in a Cell, Goldberg would continue the war of words by talking about their last meeting at WrestleMania XX and how he’s going for another win. By addressing the elephant in the room between these two men, they will be able to move on from the negatively received match and focus on their upcoming battle.
Regardless of where the eventual matchup takes place—Survivor Series is the best short-term answer, and WrestleMania would be the best long-term option—having Heyman continue building heat in the matchup by running his mouth would be best for business.
Goldberg Gets Aggressive
A long promo is usually out of the question for Goldberg, but a return this huge needed a few words Monday. What makes Goldberg better than other tough-guy characters like Roman Reigns, though, is that he comes off sincere and legitimate when he does speak.
After tugging on the WWE Universe's heart strings, it’s time for Goldberg to remind the fans who weren’t able to enjoy him during his prime why he rose so fast to the top of the card and became one of the biggest draws in wrestling history.
When Lesnar appears on next Monday’s Raw, Goldberg should be there as a surprise with a spear and a jackhammer.
The trademark intensity that made Goldberg one of the most feared—yet most popular wrestlers—in history is what the current fanbase wants to see from performers. Whether it’s Lesnar himself or Heyman getting caught in the crossfire, Goldberg should make a surprise appearance to hit his big moves and acclimate wrestling fans who haven’t experienced his presence live.
Actions speak louder than words, and Goldberg has always been a man of action. If WWE wants to make him look like a viable threat to a beast like Lesnar, it must book him as the cunning veteran who could outsmart his challenger.
Attacking Lesnar early and often would help fans believe Goldberg could win their matchup.
