Liverpool Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Sadio Mane and Agustin Davila
Liverpool star Sadio Mane has revealed manager Jurgen Klopp has long held interest in his talents, and this summer wasn't his first attempt at recruiting him. Meanwhile, the Reds look to have sewn up the signature of Uruguayan youngster Agustin Davila.
Mane moved to Anfield from Southampton for a fee of £34 million this past summer, but it was during his days at Red Bull Salzburg when he first attracted Klopp's attention, he recently told the BBC (h/t Metro's Max Miller):
"Before I came here, I had the chance to meet him when he was at Borussia Dortmund.
I was at Red Bull Salzburg and he tried to sign me – but it didn’t happen and that is football.
He is a good manager and he is someone who likes his players. At the end of last season, he called me and told me he wanted me to come to Liverpool.
I said straightaway that I want to come. It was the right time and right coach for me. I am very happy to be here.

The Senegal international was a hit signing for the Saints and has carried over a respectable scoring ratio, albeit not quite on the same level as the one he held in Austria's top flight.
Sky Football recently attested to Liverpool's summer signing justifying some of his big-money move to Merseyside, and Klopp is reaping the benefits after finally landing his long-term target:
Mane scored 45 goals in 87 total appearances for Red Bull Salzburg, per Transfermarkt, and has scored three goals in seven appearances for Liverpool after converting 25 goals in 75 outings for Southampton.
Now in his third Premier League campaign, Mane will attempt to reach even greater heights in his new setting, and the official Premier League Twitter account recently celebrated one of Mane's brightest moments in England:
The fact Klopp spotted Mane's talents during his time at Red Bull Salzburg also shows the kind of eye he has for quality players, too, and the early signs suggest the Senegalese star will certainly be a major asset.
Two of Mane's three goals this term have come against Arsenal and reigning Premier League champions Leicester City, showing big opposition certainly doesn't daunt the attacker.
Elsewhere, South American starlet Davila is said to be en route to Merseyside to take part in a trial with the Premier League club, which could lead to him agreeing a permanent deal in turn.
Dipesh Agarwal of Sport Witness cited Scouts In Attendance for news of Davila's journey to Liverpool, and the same source added mention of the forward's goal return in his native Uruguay:
The 17-year-old may not be expected to have any instant impact on first-team matters in Liverpool, but the prospect of a prolific prospect emerging at Anfield is exciting news for supporters.
Davila currently represents Atletico Penarol, but a successful trial period could see the teenage talent soon building expectations as one the starlets burgeoning among Liverpool's youth legion.
