Josh Perkins Arrested: Latest Details, Comments, Reaction on Gonzaga Guard

Gonzaga guard Josh Perkins was arrested and cited on October 9 for physical control of a vehicle while under the influence. 

Per Thomas Clouse of the Spokesman Review, Perkins received the citation at 4 a.m., but court records did not indicate if he was driving or parked in the car at the time. 

Gonzaga head coach Mark Few issued a statement about the incident involving Perkins included in Clouse's report. 

“We take this situation very seriously, and we will give Josh the support that he needs to help him learn from this,” Few said. “He understands the serious nature of the charge and has made a commitment to the process within the University.”

It is unclear at this time if Perkins will face any suspension or discipline from the team. Clouse noted that a pretrial hearing is scheduled for November 10. 

As a redshirt freshman last season, Perkins turned out to be a valuable contributor for the Bulldogs. He averaged 10.1 points, 4.1 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game, while shooting 37.8 percent from three-point range. 

With Kyle Wiltjer and Domantas Sabonis, Perkins figures to play a prominent role for Few in the 2016-17 season. 

Gonzaga's first game of the season is on November 11 against Utah Valley.
