Brock Lesnar vs. Goldberg Best Booking Options After Paul Heyman's Raw Challenge
On Monday’s edition of WWE Raw, Paul Heyman—speaking on behalf of his client Brock Lesnar—issued a challenge for a singles match to wrestling legend Goldberg.
Lesnar and Goldberg had previously fought at WrestleMania XX, and the rivalry was reignited when Lesnar was announced as the cover Superstar for WWE 2K17 and Goldberg was announced as a playable bonus character.

Fatu Ready to Upset Reigns, More Raw Fallout 👀
In response to Heyman’s challenge from Lesnar, Goldberg took to Twitter to reveal that he will be in Denver next week to give the man he beat in 2004 an answer:
Here are the best booking options for the inevitable storyline between Lesnar and Goldberg following Monday's Raw.
WWE Thinks Short-Term with Survivor Series Match
According to ShowBuzz Daily (h/t Wrestling Inc), the recent ratings for Raw have been atrocious. One way for WWE to instantly generate a buzz about the product would be to book a match at Survivor Series between a bona fide pay-per-view draw like Lesnar and a wrestler who hasn’t stepped inside a WWE ring since 2004 like Goldberg.
Lesnar has always been a draw for the Raw brand, but Goldberg showing up will be a huge attraction for the Monday night flagship show.
With the continued coverage of the United States presidential election and Monday Night Football, WWE needs to pull out all the stops to bring in viewers.
With Goldberg likely accepting Lesnar’s challenge, a match shouldn’t be too far away. While Hell in a Cell is too soon, Survivor Series in November would be the closest possible date with a stage worthy of the matchup.
Survivor Series has been an afterthought for WWE in recent years, but booking the dream rematch between a returning legend like Goldberg and a mainstream star like Lesnar would bring in fans of all ages.
The high-profile matchup wouldn’t help with long-term Raw ratings, but it would be a huge short-term boost through November.
WWE Thinks Long-Term with Royal Rumble or WrestleMania Match
From a business perspective, WWE officials would be wise to allow Goldberg to accept Lesnar’s challenge on next week’s Raw but hold the match off until the Royal Rumble or even WrestleMania 33 in Orlando, Florida.
Regardless of what the critics say about Goldberg’s ring rust following an extended absence from wrestling, he was always a draw for WCW and during his first run with WWE.
Add in the fact that he will be facing Lesnar, and their battle deserves to be built up for several months.
With Goldberg enticing fans from the Attitude Era back to wrestling, saving his return matchup for a marquee show like Royal Rumble or WrestleMania could help fans who had given up on wrestling get back into the sport.
Goldberg’s return will be nostalgic, but it will also be a huge moment for younger fans who are now getting the chance to play as the legend in WWE 2K17.
Survivor Series has been a throwaway event in recent years, but Royal Rumble and WrestleMania are always marquee events. Wrestling fans want to see the biggest matchups at the top events, and Lesnar squaring off against Goldberg is one of the few battles truly worthy of a WrestleMania main event spot.
If Lesnar and Goldberg are going to have a WrestleMania XX rematch, it deserves to be at Royal Rumble 2017 or WrestleMania 33.
