Tom Brady Salutes David Ortiz, Asks Him to Change Mind About Retirement

Andrew GouldOct 4, 2016

From one Boston sports icon to another, Tom Brady sent his farewell to the retiring David Ortiz on Tuesday.

The Boston Red Sox slugger will call it a career after this postseason, but the New England Patriots quarterback joined the masses in begging Big Papi to stick around.

"It's not too late to change your mind, Papi," Brady wrote on Facebook after directing fans to support the David Ortiz Children's Fund.

In his final season, Ortiz hit .315 with 38 home runs and an MLB-best 1.021 OPS. The 40-year-old designated hitter has more to offer, but he has chosen to exit on top.

If he needs help on keeping busy away from the game, he can ask how Brady filled his schedule while serving his recent four-game suspension.
