Despite decades of heartbreak, it's understandable fans are optimistic about winning the National League. The Cubs have earned an 102 wins and plus-249 run differential this season.
Led by MVP front-runner Kris Bryant, their stacked offense trails only the Colorado Rockies in scoring in the NL. And with Cy Young Award favorites Kyle Hendricks and Jon Lester and last year's winner, Jake , their rotation is just as formidable. They're also by far the best defensive team in baseball, per ' Ultimate Zone Rating.
On paper, the Cubs absolutely should claim the NL pennant. Yet after living through Steve in 2003 and Daniel Murphy last year, their fans know better than anyone that anything can happen in October.
If they pull it off, World Series seats at Wrigley Field will be the hottest ticket in town.
