Young Fan Gets Hit by Foul Ball, Mets Players Sign Ball to Make It Up to Him

Kyle NewportSep 28, 2016

After seeing a young fan behind their dugout get hit by a foul ball, New York Mets players came together to make it up to the fan and turn the experience around.

During Tuesday night's game between the Mets and the Miami Marlins at Marlins Park, New York right fielder Jay Bruce chopped a foul ball over his dugout—right to where a youngster was sitting in the first row. The ball hit the fan in the arm, but the child did not appear to suffer any major injuries.

The Mets wanted to ensure their young fan left the game with a smile on his face, so New York second baseman Neil Walker got the baseball from the family and gathered a bunch of his teammates' signatures. The Mets also gave the family a bat (and possibly some gum).
