Young Fan Gets Hit by Foul Ball, Mets Players Sign Ball to Make It Up to Him
After seeing a young fan behind their dugout get hit by a foul ball, New York players came together to make it up to the fan and turn the experience around.
During Tuesday night's game between the and the Miami at Park, New York right fielder Jay Bruce chopped a foul ball over his dugout—right to where a youngster was sitting in the first row. The ball hit the fan in the arm, but the child did not appear to suffer any major injuries.
The wanted to ensure their young fan left the game with a smile on his face, so New York second baseman Neil Walker got the baseball from the family and gathered a bunch of his teammates' signatures. The also gave the family a bat (and possibly some gum).
