Chris RolingSep 23, 2016

After watching Louisville dismantle Florida State, the ESPN College GameDay crew returns to SEC country Saturday for a showdown between the No. 19 Florida Gators and No. 14 Tennessee Volunteers.

Florida-Tennessee is a popular ESPN College GameDay destination, as this particular matchup in 2012 was the last time Rece Davis, Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and crew touched down back in Tennessee.

The return figures to be a triumphant one with two ranked and undefeated SEC teams eying a conference title set to get together. With the location revealed, here is everything to know about what might wind up as one of the best games of the season.

Preview

Anyone even halfway familiar with happenings in the SEC understands the lopsided nature of Saturday's marquee matchup.

Florida has won a whopping 11 consecutive games against Tennessee, including the last three by a single point.

Head coach Butch Jones, the man responsible for the Volunteers' return to form, spoke about what hangs in the balance of Saturday's encounter, according to Campus Rush's Andy Staples

"

I have spoken with more national media this week than I have in a long time, and they understand how far this program has come in 3½ short years. They understand it, they get it. It's like the Wall Street Journal being here last week and wanting the model for building a football program, a company and an organization because of how far we have come in a short period of time. And it's not just the product on the field, it's off the field, it's academics, it's putting together an entire program.

"

One could argue Jones' work, paired with recent issues suffered by the Gators, could lend to a snapping of the streak and so much more for the Volunteers.

Florida QB Austin Appleby

Issues, meaning Florida's loss of starting quarterback Luke Del Rio, who suffered a knee issue in a 32-0 blowout of North Texas one week ago. The new starter is Purdue transfer Austin Appleby, who in limited action since 2013 has thrown 19 touchdowns and interceptions.

Defense figures to remain the name of the game between these two. The Volunteers struggled past Appalachian State in an overtime thriller to start the season. Quarterback Joshua Dobbs has accounted for nine total touchdowns, but the offense has only managed a 4.3 yard-per-carry average against Appalachian State, Virginia Tech and Ohio. The three opposing offenses to encounter the Gators thus far have averaged less than 130 total yards per game.

Tennessee plays at home and figures to have an offensive advantage, but it still looks like another war of attrition between two game defenses.

Prediction

Las Vegas suggests the streak will end in a big way, painting the Volunteers as seven-point favorites, according to Odds Shark.

If the Gators had a starter under center, the point would seem easier to contest. But Appleby is something of a stopgap solution for the Gators at the worst possible time and there remains a big difference between Big Ten and SEC conference games.

Appleby on the road is a recipe for disaster at a Neyland Stadium with a potential for 102,000 screaming fans or more.

To Florida's credit, the elite defense understands the Volunteers want to run the football. But an inability of the offense to uphold its end of the bargain will see the game remain close, but in favor of the home team and a snapped streak.

Prediction: Tennessee 24, Florida 20
