Rodriguez Puts on a Show As Yanks Finish Up the Regular Season

The Yankees finally wrapped up the regular season today, as they stomped all over the Tampa Rays and won the game 10-2.  A.J. Burnett pitched well in his final tune-up before the postseason. His pitching line was: W, 7H 2R 1ER 1BB 3K. His record improved to (13-9) on the season.

Joba Chamberlain looked like his old self out of the bullpen. Radar guns at the stadium had him at 95mph on the gun. He pitched one scoreless inning and struck out a batter.

Alex Rodriguez set an AL mark with 7RBI’s in a single inning. He hit a 3-run homer and a grand slam. He needed exactly 7RBI’s to reach the 100 mark, and he got exactly that. He also needed 2HR’s to reach the 30 home run mark, and he reached that as well. Fernando Tatis is the only other Major Leaguer to have seven or more RBIs, who hit two grand slams as a member of the Cardinals back in 1999.

During this game, the Yankees also set a club record with 243 home runs. The record was 242, which was previously owned by 2004 Yankees. This was the ball club’s 103rd win of the season.
