Scott PolacekSep 20, 2016

UFC 205 is set for Nov. 12 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, but it is still missing a main event. On Tuesday, Eddie Alvarez made sure the world knew he wants to be part of it.

Alvarez took to Twitter to call out Conor McGregor with the event approaching:

McGregor appeared to respond on Twitter:

Alvarez won the lightweight championship in July when he knocked out Rafael dos Anjos at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas, while McGregor is the featherweight champion.

According to Damon Martin of FoxSports.com, "the rumored bout between Alvarez and McGregor has been swirling for weeks" and both fighters "are on board" to make sure it happens.

Martin pointed out that after his victory, Alvarez quickly turned his attention to the winner of the UFC 202 showdown between McGregor and Nate Diaz. McGregor defeated Diaz by majority decision, and it seems as if his next test will come against the lightweight champion.

If Tuesday's tweets were any indication, Alvarez is not intimidated by McGregor.
