Breaux Comments on Status

Breaux Injury Will Challenge Saints Defense

The undrafted player out of LSU started 16 games last season and was expected to be a major part of the defense in 2016.

Losing Breaux will be a big problem because of the lack of depth and experience in the Saints secondary.

Larry Holder of NOLA.com noted the issue:

P.J. Williams is a former third-round pick, but he missed all of 2015 with a hamstring injury. De'Vante Harris and Ken Crawley are undrafted rookies who will likely have to step up in Breaux's absence.

New Orleans already had problems in the secondary after allowing the second-most passing yards in the NFL last season. Opposing quarterbacks threw for 45 touchdowns, compared to just nine interceptions.

After Oakland Raiders signal-caller Derek Carr threw for 319 yards in New Orleans' 35-34 loss Sunday, the Saints will want Breaux to return to the lineup as soon as possible.
