Other Backlash Thoughts

Since this is the first exclusive SmackDown PPV, there is a lot of pressure for WWE to prove half the roster can carry an event by itself.

The crowning of new women's and tag team champions will create some buzz, but every match needs to deliver for the event to be a success.

The rise of Heath Slater has been one of the most interesting storylines across all of WWE programming, and we could finally see a payoff for the One Man Rock Band in the form of a tag title reign with Rhyno.

Having six women involved in the title match gives it a sense of unpredictability, but only two or three seem like actual candidates to win the belt.

Natalya, Becky Lynch and Nikki Bella are the obvious favorites, while Naomi, Carmella and Alexa Bliss are the underdog wild cards.

It's possible WWE will add more matches as the show progresses. Six is a low number for a three-hour pay-per-view, especially if one is put on the pre-show.

After this event, Raw gets to have its shot at a solo PPV with Clash of Champions on September 25.
