Tom SunderlandSep 8, 2016

Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are reported to be two of the four Real Madrid superstars in line to secure new contracts at the Santiago Bernabeu this month.

According to the Mirror's Ed Malyon, Los Merengues are poised to spend "almost £350 million" on new deals in September, with Toni Kroos and Luka Modric also expected to be rewarded with fresh contracts.

The news comes just a day after BBC Sport reported Real lost their appeal against a 2017 transfer embargo, which will mean the club will be prevented from registering new players until January 2018.

Bleacher Report's Karl Matchett recently wrote Real are beginning the adjustment period to life without Ronaldo, 31, but it appears Los Blancos will be happy to keep hold of their superstar for years to come:

Malyon reported Ronaldo is "expected to sign a four-year deal" that will keep him at the Bernabeu until 2020—a two-year extension on his current dealcomplete with an eye-watering salary of "around £500,000 a week."

Bale is now halfway through the six-year contract he signed upon arriving in 2013, but a renegotiation clause inserted in that deal means the Welshman is in line for improved terms following last season's fine form.

A productive end to the 2015-16 campaign—during which Real clinched a second UEFA Champions League trophy in three years—as well as a run to the Euro 2016 semi-finals with Wales, put Bale in a strong bartering position.

Kevin Palmer of the Sunday World also pointed out the impact Real's impending transfer embargo is likely to have on Bale's status at the club, not to mention any other potential departures from Real:

Bale's current contract isn't set to expire until 2019, but it's understood his new contract will keep him at the club until 2021, although his £400,000-a-week wages won't quite be on a par with Ronaldo.

Midfield duo Modric and Kroos have also clearly impressed the club's hierarchy with talk they too are in line for new deals, playing key roles en route to last term's European success under manager Zinedine Zidane.

Modric's current contract expires in 2018, while Kroos' loyalties aren't quite as grave a concern, with his deal running until 2020, but that hasn't stopped Real gunning to offer both their playmakers fresh terms.

The four contracts are expected to cost a grand total of more than £340 million over the next six years, with Ronaldo and Bale the priciest investments of the bunch by a stretch.
