Fan Finds Ejiro Ederaine's Redskins Playbooks in a Dumpster

If Washington doesn't want its defensive secrets getting out after 53-man roster cuts, it might need to do a better job of check and balances than it did after 75-man cuts.

A listener identified as "Josh" called in to the radio program The Sports Junkies on 106.7 The Fan, discussing reportedly finding linebacker Ejiro Ederaine's defensive workbooks in the trash:

Ederaine, an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State, was part of the team's first round of cuts after the third preseason game. Standard protocol typically sees released players hand in all team-related materials upon their release so they cannot take them to another franchise, sell them or otherwise share sensitive information.

"I can tell you guys, it actually has two different—so it has what you do in a hot route, what his assignment would have been, what the guy next to him's assignment would have been, it has breakdowns and handwritten things of the new calls, like the defense changed the call or whatever. He scratched it out and put the new verbiage for it. I mean it's got everything," the caller said, per Bryan Frantz of CBS DC.

It's unclear why Ederaine didn't hand in his workbooks. The caller said he found the books in a clear trash bag near the hotel where the Washington rookies were staying. He contacted the team, which said it would be in touch with him. It's unknown whether Washington will attempt to retrieve the playbooks or if Josh is willing to barter for them.

One would assume Jay Gruden and Co. will be more prudent this weekend.
