49ers RB Carlos Hyde's Week 1 Status?
1 of 10
According to Joe Fann of the San Francisco 49ers' official website, Carlos Hyde remains in the concussion protocol as of right now, but that didn't stop head coach Chip Kelly from telling reporters that his starting running back is expected to suit up.
While we expect Hyde to play in Week 1, this is a situation worth watching.
If Hyde practices by Wednesday, great. If not, concern will start to creep in.
In the event Hyde is unable to go, backup running back Shaun Draughn ($3,700 DK; $4,800 FD) makes for a great value play in DFS against the Los Angeles Rams in Week 1.
Bears to Be Without Top 3 Cornerbacks?
2 of 10
Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is salivating.
Why? Well, the Chicago Bears could be without their top three cornerbacks—Kyle Fuller, Bryce Callahan and Tracy Porter—according to Chris Emma of CBSChicago.com.
That leaves Jacoby Glenn and Deiondre' Hall as the projected starters unless something else happens.
Unless Pro Football Focus is lying to me (which it never does), neither Glenn nor Hall has ever taken an NFL snap in the regular season.
From the receiving core, Hopkins ($8,800 DK; $8,400 FD) and fellow wide receiver Will Fuller ($3,700 DK; $5,600 FD) both make for solid plays against Chicago's depleted secondary in Week 1.
Chiefs RB Jamaal Charles Out Week 1?
3 of 10
Over the last few days, the developing saga surrounding whether Kansas City Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles will play in Week 1 has almost reached its peak.
After suffering an ACL tear in 2015—and his second in his career—the aging Charles is having some trouble getting back into the swing of things.
According to BJ Kissel of the team's official website, head coach Andy Reid said it's a "stretch" for Charles to play in Week 1 against the San Diego Chargers.
As a result, backup running back Spencer Ware ($4,400 DK; $5,400 FD) figures to get the majority of the carries.
At his price tag, Ware is worth a play in DFS, but going against the Chargers, you can expect Ware to be owned more than you would like come Sunday.
Eagles Name Carson Wentz Starting QB
4 of 10
As expected, the Philadelphia Eagles have named Carson Wentz the starting quarterback for Week 1 against the Cleveland Browns, according to Adam Caplan of ESPN.
In the wake of the Sam Bradford trade to the Minnesota Vikings, people speculated at first that veteran Chase Daniel would start because of his familiarity with Eagles head coach Doug Pederson's offense, but Pederson and the Eagles are wasting no time getting the rookie in there.
After injuring his ribs earlier this preseason, Wentz is a bit of an unknown commodity when it comes to the NFL.
In college, Wentz was fantastic, though he struggled with deep-ball accuracy and played against less than stellar competition.
Albeit against the Browns, expect the Eagles to rely on the run game in this contest. Currently, running back Ryan Mathews is going for $5,700 on DraftKings and $6,100 on FanDuel, making him a nice play in Week 1. Be aware, however, that Mathews could be a popular play because Wentz is starting.
Other than Mathews, tight end Zach Ertz ($4,300 DK; $5,700 FD) makes for a decent play, as Wentz will look to a security blanket early and often.
Let's see what Wentz has. He has about as good an opponent to debut against as any.
Redskins RB Matt Jones Expects to Play Week 1
5 of 10
According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, Washington Redskins running back Matt Jones "feels awesome" and expects to play in Week 1 against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jones suffered a sprained AC joint in his shoulder earlier this preseason, prompting questions about his availability for Week 1. Those questions, however, seem to have been answered.
With Jones quite possibly returning and fellow running back Keith Marshall headed to injured reserve, the other viable back on the Redskins is undrafted rookie Rob Kelley, who has definitely earned himself a role this preseason.
On 38 carries this preseason, Kelley has rushed for nearly 200 yards and a score.
For DFS purposes, this is a backfield I'd rather wait and see on.
Avoid Jones and Kelley for now.
Justin Forsett Re-Signs with Ravens
6 of 10
Running back Justin Forsett announced on Twitter that has re-signed with the Baltimore Ravens.
The move comes just days after the Ravens cut the veteran, leaving everyone thinking one thing: "Uh. What? Oh."
According to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun, Forsett is set to have a "significant" role in Week 1, when the Ravens take on former backup Tyrod Taylor and the Buffalo Bills.
Just when we thought we had clarity on a muddled backfield, this happens.
Avoid all Ravens running backs in Week 1. You're gambling with them at this point.
Seahawks RB Thomas Rawls Expected to Start Week 1
7 of 10
Regardless of all the hype surrounding Seattle Seahawks running back Christine Michael ($3,700 DK; $4,800 FD), Thomas Rawls ($6,000 DK; $7,400 FD) is expected to be the Week 1 starter for the team, according to Sheil Kapadia of ESPN.com.
Although Rawls is slated to start, Michael has definitely earned a role. How big of a role, though? That's the question.
Looking at their price tags, I think Rawls is the play here. However, I wouldn't argue if you slotted in Michael.
This backfield could be one that DFS players stay away from because of the lack of overall clarity, even though the Seahawks are facing the Miami Dolphins.
If one of them pops, you could be sitting pretty.
Seahawks TE Luke Willson to Start Week 1
8 of 10
According to Sheil Kapadia of ESPN.com, expect Seahawks tight end Luke Willson—not Jimmy Graham—to start in Week 1 against the Dolphins.
It seems as though Graham's debut after rupturing his patellar tendon may be on hold. However, Kapadia also notes that Graham has a chance to play.
Graham was an irritating option last season in both season-long leagues and DFS.
You're obviously avoiding Willson in DFS, but what the heck do we do with Graham?
The best answer? Hmm.
Vikings to Start QB Shaun Hill Week 1
9 of 10
This is a completely expected move.
After the devastating injury to quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, the Minnesota Vikings found themselves feeling as though their season was essentially over before it began.
As a result, the team turned to veteran backup quarterback Shaun Hill.
But wait—the Vikings shocked the football world when they unloaded a 2017 first-round pick and a 2018 conditional fourth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for quarterback Sam Bradford.
The Vikings know they can do some damage this year, which prompted the move.
However, the Bradford deal came with just over a week until the Vikings' season started. Hill will get the nod in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans with Bradford as the backup with limited playbook knowledge, according to Mark Craig of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
As a result, the pass-catching options leave a lot to be desired.
This means that running back Adrian Peterson ($7,600 DK; $8,200 FD) is the obvious play here.
Expect AP to have a huge day.
When Will Dolphins WR DeVante Parker Return?
10 of 10
There are growing questions about when Dolphins wide receiver DeVante Parker, who was highly lauded coming into his sophomore season in 2016, will return to practice, according to Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald.
A hamstring injury reportedly kept Parker out of practice Monday, according to Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald.
As a result, it seems as though fellow wide receiver Kenny Stills ($3,200 DK; $4,900 FD) is ahead in the depth chart for the time being.
This is not ideal for anyone who drafted Parker in season-long leagues.
However, in Week 1, the Dolphins travel to Seattle to take on the Seahawks. Yikes.
Because of the matchup, the only real DFS-worthy play among the Dolphins pass-catchers is likely Jarvis Landry ($6,000 DK; $6,600 FD), who should be targeted early and often in a game in which you can expect the Dolphins to trail, well, early and often.
Expect double-digit targets for Landry.
At his price tag, Stills makes for an intriguing Hail Mary play, although I wouldn't be too invested.
The Dolphins will start the season 0-1.
