Tarik Black to Michigan: Wolverines Land 4-Star WR Prospect
Michigan landed a commitment Wednesday from one of the top playmakers in the 2017 class in wide receiver Tarik Black.
Irish Sports Daily had the report:
The 4-star prospect is considered the No. 13 receiver in the country and the No. 1 wideout from the state of Connecticut, according to Scout. While you can question his competition at the high school level, he has all the physical tools necessary to succeed at the next level.
At 6'3 ½", Black has great size to be a red-zone threat as well as the speed necessary to beat opponents down the field. He has also showcased impressive agility that is usually reserved for smaller players at the position.
If there were any questions about his hands, he answered those with a video of him catching balls out of the JUGS machine at 70 mph:
With this skill set, it was no surprise Black received scholarship offers from dozens of schools all over the country. After narrowing it down to five schools, the receiver discussed what separated them from the rest of the suitors.
"All these schools are high on academics, have great football programs with excellent coaches who can help develop me into the receiver that I want to be and get me into the league," Black said in April, per Tyler Donohue of Bleacher Report. "It makes it tough for me because all these schools pretty much have what I'm looking for."
The talented player eventually was able to make a decision, choosing to spend his college career with the Wolverines.
Even with plenty of depth already on the roster, Black has the skill set necessary to make an early impact at Michigan and will only get better with time.
