Bayley Makes WWE Raw Debut: Latest Details and Reaction

WWE Raw general manager Mick Foley announced that Bayley has joined the show's women's division after receiving her main-roster call-up on Monday.

Bayley is coming off a loss to Asuka in her rematch with the Empress of Tomorrow for the NXT Women's Championship at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II. Most expected that it was only a matter of time before Bayley showed up on either Raw or SmackDown Live.

The former NXT women's champion had previously teamed up with Sasha Banks at Battleground in July, but the announcers made it clear on the pay-per-view broadcast that she hadn't made the transition to full-time WWE wrestler.

The Divas Revolution was largely a bust, but the company's reset of the women's division—spurred on by the transition from the Divas Championship to the Women's Championship—has helped fully legitimize it. WWE Creative Humor noted an important aspect of the layout for Sunday night's SummerSlam card:

Bayley's appearance on Raw couldn't be coming at a better time. Sasha dropped the Women's Championship to Charlotte at SummerSlam, and the Wrestling Observer's Dave Meltzer (h/t Wrestling Observer's Joseph Currier) reported that The Boss is suffering from a back injury.

Bayley gives WWE another top star to feud with Charlotte over the next month or two, and based on their history together in NXT, their first singles clash will be a major occasion.
