Why Seth Rollins Must Win Fatal 4-Way for Universal Championship on WWE Raw

Donald WoodAug 22, 2016

When four Superstars battle in a Fatal 4-Way for the Universal Championship on next week’s episode of WWE Raw, it should be Seth Rollins who walks out of Houston as the second titleholder.

Since returning from a devastating knee injury and the subsequent surgery, Rollins has been one of the company's hottest Superstars. Not only has he returned to elite form in the ring by reclaiming his title as one of the world's best wrestlers, but he also has elite promo abilities matched by only Kevin Owens in the Fatal 4-Way.

Rollins’ injury may have temporarily slowed down his momentum, but he already proved his worth to the company in the years leading up to his knee surgery. WWE officials know they can expect consistency and composure from him.

With a recent string of suspensions and the injury to Finn Balor, Rollins is the steadying force the Raw brand needs at the helm moving into the fall. Rollins has shown his knee is fully healthy, and he should get the chance to carry the company once again.

As the Universal champion, Rollins would be the perfect heel titleholder for the faces on the Raw brand to chase. From Sami Zayn to Roman Reigns to Big Cass to Cesaro, there are a plethora of Superstars on the roster who would benefit from working a program against the heel champion, even if the title never changes hands.

The other three challengers have the chance to steal the show next Monday, but no one deserves it as much as Rollins. The WWE Universe knows what Owens brings to the table as one of the business's best in-ring workers and arguably the best talker, but Rollins has been the better heel on the main roster.

Big Cass doesn’t need to win the championship yet, as just being in the ring fighting for the title is a massive rub for him. The experience of fighting for the Universal Championship would be enough to build main event credibility.

The most likely possibility if Rollins isn’t going to win is a victorious Reigns. The three-time world champion has been pushed heavily over the last two years, but he’s been losing more often following a suspension. Eventually, WWE officials will catapult him back into the world title scene and his role as a top face.

Thankfully for wrestling fans, Reigns won’t win next Monday. With Rollins being the clear choice to become the second universal champion in history, the Raw brand will be led by a heel as the top faces begin their chase.
