Willis McGahee a Touchdown Machine | NFL Fantasy Football Tips- Advice

Sean E. DouglasOct 3, 2009

It looks like Willis McGahee has found new life as the Ravens No.2 running back. So far this season McGhee is averaging over five yards per carry and has six touchdowns.

I am very surprised that McGahee has been able to stay healthy this long, while still putting up these kinds of numbers.

This off-season, McGahee had two more surgeries on his often injured knee that has troubled him for some time. Then this spring Ray Rice started taking the first team running duties, and it looked like McGahee might be heading out.

So far this season McGahee is proving that he still has enough skill left to be a fantasy football factor on a weekly basis. The team has given McGahee exclusive opportunities around the goal line, and he has responded in a big way.

This was another surprise as I figured the Ravens would lean on full back LeRon McClain to handle this part of the rushing attack. Last season McClain had double digit touchdowns and is clearly the Ravens most physical runner.

Strength of Schedule

Below I have a list of the Ravens' schedule for the rest of the season, and as you can see it has many favorable rushing matchups.

·           WK 4- @ Patriots

·           WK 5- Bengals

·           WK 6- @ Vikings

·           WK 7- Bye Week

·           WK 8- Broncos

·           WK 9- @ Bengals

·           WK 10-@ Browns

·           WK 11- Colts

·           WK 12- Steelers

·           WK 13-@ Packers

·           WK 14- Lions

·           WK 15- Bears

·           WK 16-@ Steelers

·           WK 17-@ Raiders

If McGahee continues to have success (especially finding the end zone) then he should have one of his best years as a pro. The Ravens have one of the best offensive lines in the NFL, and all Raven runners should have success running with these big men in front.

Fantasy Football Rankings for Willis McGahee

Right now McGahee is making for an excellent bye week fill in player for your fantasy football team. The team seems settled on using McGahee once they get inside the red zone, and he has done nothing to disappoint them.

As long as McGahee can stay healthy he should have a great opportunity to continue his high yards per carry average and make a run at 15 touchdowns for the season.

In closing, while McGahee may not be the starting running back in Baltimore, he is the top runner on this team for fantasy football.
