Ken Griffey Jr. wore No. 24 throughout his time with the Seattle Mariners. On Saturday night, the entire Seattle lineup is rocking that jersey one last time before the club retires it.
The team donned Griffey's No. 24 during batting practice prior to a matchup with the Los Angeles Angels at Safeco Field. Members of the Mariners also wore their caps backward as an additional tribute to the outfielder, who was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on July 24.
Mariners President Kevin Mather announced during the ceremony that a Griffey statue will be placed outside of Safeco Field next year (h/t Twitter.com). The Mariners then wrapped things up by unveiling Griffey's plaque that now hangs at Safeco Field.
