New York Jets running back Matt Forte suffered a knee injury in the team's Week 14 game against the San Francisco 49ers. However, he is ready to return.

Forte told Rich Cimini of ESPN.com he has a torn meniscus and suspects he's been playing with it all year.

Forte said on Dec. 11 that there is "cracking and popping" in his knee, per Cimini.

Head coach Todd Bowles told reporters Forte did not take part in Wednesday's practice session, per Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

Forte Has Been Dinged Up in Debut Season with Jets

Forte suffered a hamstring injury before training camp, and the ailment forced him to miss a couple of weeks as the Jets prepared for the start of the 2016 season.

He then nursed minor knee and rib injuries in advance of the Jets' Week 5 game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but they didn't prevent him from suiting up.

In his first season with Gang Green, Forte has amassed 214 carries for 792 yards and seven touchdowns as the Jets' lead dog. He has also tallied 29 catches for 256 yards and one score in an offense that has struggled to hit its stride with uncertainty at quarterback.
