Pens Start Season With 3-2 Win Over Rangers
The Pittsburgh Penguins start the season like they finished last season, with a win. With the Stanley Cup banner raised Pens able to pick up their first win of the season.
Marc Andre Fleury made 25 saves. The biggest save came in the second period when Fleury doing a sliding split across the crease made a huge glove save on a 2 on 1 breakaway. He starts the season with a W.
On the first power play of the season the Penguins scored on a deflected goal by Evgeni Malkin. Gonchar shot the puck from the point where it was deflected right in front of Henrik Lundqvist at 7:48 of the first period. Lundqvist made 28 saves.

Late in the first the Rangers got on the board when Chris Drury took a pass from C. Higgins and slid it 5 hole on Fleury.
In the Second Period Sidney Crosby took a crisp pass from Kris Letang and blew it pass Lundqvist from right in front. One minute n 8 seconds later Tyler Kennedy deflected a shot from Alex Goligoski for the Pens third goal.
In the third period Marian Gaborik scored his first goal of the season and first as a Ranger to cut the lead to 3 to 2.
