Comparing John Cena To The Rock, a Faded Carbon Copy

Many people over the years have said that John Cena is the new Rock.  I personally disagree, i feel that while Cena is somewhat entertaining at times he is no more than WWE's failed attempt to have another Rock in their midst.  Lets compare the similarities.

Signature moves-If i have ever seen a close imitation to the peoples elbow its the five knuckle shuffle, the only difference being that the rock actually won matches with the peoples elbow while Cena uses it as a set up move.  Cena has the STF while the Rock utilized the sharpshooter on many occasions, both moves are different but its rare to see a perosn have a submission finisher anymore and both these guys had it.

Persona-The Rock was over the top, cocky, and loud.  Cena on the other hand is loud, cocky and over the top, wait thats the same thing.  Cenas promos are very similar in presentation to the rocks from back in the earlier part of the decade.  Both men come up with funny insults for their opponents and have many catchphrases.  Cena has "Come get some" while the Rock has "Just bring it".  Pretty close if you ask me

Rise to stardom-Both men started out as bluechipper babyfaces who won some mid card titles before being quickly elevated to main event status.  Cena and Rock have also both been tag champs with people who were not their partner by any means.  While The Rock and Sock connection had more umph than Cena and michaels did, its still a very similar storyline.

Movies- Both men make movies that are action oriented and both started while wrestling.  The Rock eventually left wrestling to make more movies, and many feel the same is inevitable for Cena.  Though in my opinion Dwayne Johnson is a much better actor than Cena. 

Feuds-Both men have had feuds with just about everyone from their era, but some cover both men.  HHH for example has faught both men over the title.  While Cena is always the babyface, Rocky actually went heel a couple of times and it made him even more popular when he turned face again.  Cena will most likely follow a similar trend if he continues to get mixed reactions at shows.

Overall the two men are very different but there is no denying that they have led similar careers in wrestling, the big difference is that Dwayne came up with most of the Rock persona alone while Cena was driven this way by the WWE in order to fill the gap left by the Rock.  I know ill be tuning in tonight to see if the Rock mentions Cena, probably not going to but its always possible.
