CC Sabathia Wipes Out Trying to Throw a Pitch, Gets Called for a Balk

CC Sabathia is a six-time All-Star, a former Cy Young Award winner and the proud owner of a nine-figure contract.

Despite all of his career accomplishments, the New York Yankees southpaw is not immune to making an embarrassing gaffe on the mound.

During Thursday afternoon's game against the Baltimore Orioles, Sabathia attempted to throw the 1-1 pitch to Orioles shortstop J.J. Hardy. And then the 6'6", 300-pound left-hander went down.

To make matters worse, the runner on first, Chris Davis, had reached three pitches earlier on a throwing error...by Sabathia.

Sabathia allowed four runs on seven hits and one walk in 6.2 innings. Add in his error and his balk, and it was not the best way he could have celebrated his 36th birthday.
