What The WWE Should Do To Enhace Their Storylines
There are two types of wrestling fans (excluding children who see John Cena as a role model).
1. The knowledgeable (educated) fans.
The ones who criticize the WWE when they see a bad storyline and don’t just cheer or boo a person just because they’re a heel or face but rather cheer or boo someone based on their in ring ability, their mic skills, and the way they act their character.
2. The Ignorant (uneducated) fans.
These are the ones I hate watching WWE with because they take it from being terrible to being revolting.I remember one day I was watching ECW (I watch ECW from time to time just to see the new talent like Sheamus and to see Christian and Shelton Benjamin) and it was during that time when the new Hurricane Helms (Superhero) storyline was developing.
In the past weeks a mysterious superstar was “saving” crew members backstage and when Paul Burchill was attacking a guy which was either Yoshi Tatsu or Tyler Reks after a match “The Hurricane” came out of nowhere and attacked Paul.
I MEAN THE WWE USED VISUAL EFFECTS TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE THE GUY HAD COME FROM THIN AIR!!!!!
I was pissed of because there is only one superstar who mysteriously comes out of nowhere and that’s the Undertaker and what also pissed me of was the fact that the WWE did that storyline for the little children.
When I said that “this is bulls**t” one of guys I was watching with said that the undertaker was old and that he was probably gonna retire in a couple of years and that the crowd needed someone new to carry that “coming out of nowhere” gimmick.
I was like “what the f**k”?And I told him that Gregory Helms was never going to be as good as the Undertaker!,adn that Gregory Helms was never going to be world champion!
I told him that Gregory did not have the talent, in-ring ability, mic skills, and tenacity to be a top quality main eventer like Randy Orton, Undertaker, etc, and that if I was Vince McMahon’ I’d fire him and reinstate The Brian Kendrick and give him a good push.I mean, the guy proved himself at Unforgiven last year during the Championship Scramble match.
I used to get angry because It seemed like there were more ignorant fans than there were knowledgeable ones until I realized that if the WWE was smart, they could use that to their advantage because right now the WWE only hires people with the relevant degrees for their “creative team”.
The reason the WWE does this is so that their storylines will become more professional but most of the people they hire don't know anything about wrestling which is why we have this dilemma of bad storylines and ratings dropping.
Some people think that hiring former WWE superstars for the creative team would be better because they will know a lot about wrestling.
The problem with that is that they may be clueless as to how to construct a compelling storyline.
My solution to the problem is to use professional storyline writers and educated wrestling fans. This could work especially if the educated wrestling fans were the ones who conceived most of the storylines while the pro writers would be the ones working with them.
All the WWE would need to do the is write a press release on theircorporate website stating that they're looking for knowledgeable wrestling fans for the creative team and asking interested parties to write a "sample" storyline for a pay-per view or for a couple of pay per views.
After that the WWE would select the best entries and I think that if the WWE did this, their storylines wold get better and their Nielsen ratings would also improve but knowing the WWE and Vince McMahon, this will probably never happen; which is a shame.
