Marcus Vick Pleads Guilty to Resisting Arrest: Latest Comments and Reaction
Former NFL quarterback Marcus Vick has been sentenced to one year in jail, 11 months suspended, as part of a plea deal for an incident in which he allegedly assaulted a police officer.
TMZ reported Vick pleaded guilty to a charge of resisting arrest in exchange for having the other charges dropped. He was originally charged with felony assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and obstruction of justice after an April incident in Newport News, Virginia.
Police allegedly approached Vick in a Newport News business to arrest him on a pending warrant in another county. He then fled, pushing an officer and running out of the building before being captured.

The 32-year-old could have faced a prison term of up to five years for assaulting a police officer. He will instead spend about a month in jail overall. All but one month of his year in jail was suspended—which means he won't have to serve the time so long as he stays out of trouble—and Vick was also given 19 days' time already served.
TMZ reported he will be on unsupervised probation for one year.
The brother of former Pro Bowler Michael Vick, Marcus played for the Miami Dolphins in 2006 after going undrafted out of Virginia Tech. He spent time bouncing around from the practice squad to the 53-man roster but never found a full-time position.
Vick has consistently run afoul of the law since his departure from Virginia Tech. He has been charged with two separate DUIs (2008 and 2013), multiple violations of his parole and gun charges over the last decade.
A woman also filed a civil suit against Vick in 2006, claiming a number of sexual misdeeds, including molestation. The parties settled out of court.
